What is a BAMF integration course?

A BAMF integration course is a specially developed language and orientation course funded by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. The aim is to enable migrants and refugees to integrate quickly and effectively into German society.

You will learn to communicate easily when shopping, visiting the doctor, going to the authorities, at work and in your free time. In addition to oral communication, you will also practise written communication skills such as writing emails, letters and filling out forms.

The BAMF integration course ends with two important examinations: the German Test for Immigrants (DTZ) and the “Living in Germany” test. The DTZ consists of two parts: a written and an oral part. These test your reading ability, your listening comprehension, your writing skills and your speaking skills. After completing the test, you will receive a certificate documenting the language level you have achieved.

How much does the BAMF pay for the integration course?

The cost of a BAMF-funded integration course is usually €2.29 per teaching unit. For 700 teaching units, this results in a total price of around €1,603. In many cases, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) covers a large part of the costs.

Depending on your individual situation (your individual status as a migrant or refugee, your income situation and whether you are entitled to a fee reduction or exemption), you can benefit from a reduced course fee or even attend the language course free of charge.

Please contact the team at our Berlin language school for detailed information on possible financial support.
